What is a special education advocate?

A special education advocate is a passionate ally for families, guiding them through the often overwhelming special education system with care and expertise. They work hand-in-hand with parents and schools to ensure every child’s unique needs are recognized and met. Advocates help families understand their rights under laws like IDEA and Section 504, empowering them to make informed decisions. From crafting meaningful IEPs to securing necessary accommodations, advocates are dedicated to creating pathways for success in and out of the classroom. Their mission is to foster equity, inclusion, and opportunity, ensuring every child receives the education they deserve.
